Today was my last day at Mama Ricotta's Restaurant. It went well. I took tons of pictures of everyone after my shifts. That felt good. Closure. Goodbye and good lucks back and forth to everyone. Some very cool interactions. All the Mama R pictures here.

negra baby shower
Ang & [mostly] Lita threw Aya an awesome baby shower today (at Lita's house). Too too cool. I had to leave early to go to work, but I still took tons of pictures. Here they are.

new kittehs!
Danielle got her two 12-week old kittens yesterday. They're brothers. Got to hang out with 'em for a few hours last night. They're awesome. Possibly, hopefully, their names will be firefox and winky. But Danielle hasn't decided yet. Took tons of pictures with the 10mm and the 85mm. I processed them all quite quickly, entirely using ACR (point being, I usually tend to send everything to PS for more editing after the raw step). It felt good.. getting faster. :) Good fun.

baxter & kings construction
Headed out to a couple of Rio's jobs to try to get pictures but no dice. Will need a ladder for both. After that, I headed home but ended up stopping and walking around taking pictures of the construction at Baxter St & S Kings Dr. Purty crazy. So here's today.

looking through photo archives (forgotten treasures)
At Ang's request, was preparing a cd of photos for Halyna today. At first I only had a few but then I started to look harder and kept adding more stuff. Theeeen I started to come across some things that I'd totally forgotten about--pictures from Jordon's first and second birthdays, for example. Purty cool. Also, had a look at the few impromptu prego Ayleen pics I took a few weeks ago too (need to see her with my new lens soon). Anyway. Sadly these pics are mostly private to friends and family per request, but here's the link.

uptown walking + equinox drumming
Okay. Here's a question that I don't really care about the answer to. What's the difference between "uptown" and "downtown"? Is there really a proper way to refer to different parts of MYTOWN? ppffft. Whatever. I always call it downtown, and that's fine with me. Right, which brings me to the point. Got off work early tonight and heading downtown for the Trade & Tryon equinox drumming circle madness WITH my camera (and the 10mm). Decided to park a bit far away in order to get some quality time with the streets and buildings. And. I must say. It was. Pretty. Damn. Awesome. I was quite surprised at what I could do with iso1600. Verrrry very cool.
Meh. Getting tired, so here's the short version: I eventually arrived at T&T for the craziness. Danielle showed up a few minutes later. Took lots of pictures. Kelly, a new friend of Danielle's (from Sangati/Asana) showed up a few minutes after that with a friend (Katie). We drummed some. Four youngish, laughing/silly, probably-intoxicated guys showed up and proceeded to dance in and out of and all around the circle. It was pretty awesome. Afterwards, Kelly and Katie did a bit of yoga while some dude took pictures with a point and shoot from really far away (haha) and I did teeny bit of cartwheelin. Good times. Here them pics.

festival in the park
Went to the festival at Freedom Park. Oh-so-thankfully, many of the photos I took are throw-aways -- I was snapping with the camera hanging at my waist while walking around the park. Got to take a look at quite a good number of photographers' booths. Some great photos. Some great prices. Lots of not-so-great or impressive photos. And lots of ridiculous (my opinion) prices. It was certainly interesting... So yeah, here be zeh pics!

yardfixing & emilievisit
Summary.
1.) Justin 'n Charles 'n Jordon dealt with tarping (bah) and spreading the woodchip pile around the natural area today.
2.) Danielle & I talked about Texas.
3.) I took pictures of Aliana & outside woo.
4.) I sang Jack Johnson's reduce, reuse, recycle (The Three R's) song the whole night at work. Seriously. And you know what? It really made a difference, 'cause I was struggling tonight. That kept me happy though. And sane. Thanks Jack Johnson.
5.) Danielle and the awesome Emilie Sons went to see NCDT perform and came over afterwards .. and I took tons of pictures. Emilie is soooo photogenic. I love her energy.
6.) I proceeded to spend what some might consider way too many hours editing photos. I'm getting better every day though. Especially today. Awesome awesome. No joke. Especially fascinated with exploring using lower saturation and trying to untrain myself regarding contrast (high contrast is not the only way).
See today here.

somewhat invasive, on ways to be
So many possibilities with this new lens. It's just soooooo fun!
In other news, I rediscovered Leona Naess for the second time today--think the last time it happened was somewhere around a year ago. I definitely need more womanly music in my life. ... haha. Okay, you know what I mean. More women-singer-lady music. Mmmm. Work was pretty easy today. I mean, we were busy (Friday duh) but I was able to enjoy being of service a lot more. I guess it's much easier to be 99% present since I definitely have an end-date. Yesh. Finally gave Ayleen her mate gourd today and she was very very excited. The rest from today here.

of giving two-week notices
The description on this self-portrait pretty much says it all. Was an awesome day. Went to one of Rio's jobsites for the first time and tried to get some pictures--not so hot, but still was fun. Afterwards, I ended up spending an hour 'n a half hanging out in the park nearby, taking pictures. After THAT I talked to Tambi .. gave her my two-week notice. This lens is mind-blowing. I really enjoyed processing these. See them here.

So I hung out with Rio for a few before Mom's b-day partay. Riding in the jeep with the wide angle is just too cool. Lots of potential there. heh. Well, have a look.

new beginnings
Got my 10-22mm lens yesterday evening. Didn't do anything then aside from take my self-portrait (lovely little piece of writing that goes along with that picture--I mean, how often do I write that much?), but I had a blast using it today with my circular polarizer. Amazing. It's everything that I knew it would be. Very pleased with the rest of the pictures from this afternoon too.
In my mind, this new blog is going to act as a sort of organizing filter for my photographic exploits -- a way to keep track of things that happen in a more sorted fashion, allowing flickr to just be the stream where everything is hosted. I think this could also make my life and photography more accessible to certain loved ones, though it's not quite the motivating factor behind this endeavor. Anyway. I suspect that usually I'll be posting here about an event..or rather, a particular session of shooting, like today. For each blog entry, I'll either link the date-taken-in or the corresponding photos will have a tag (if there are separate events in the same day). Like for these pics, you can click here. So that's it. Here I go. Wish me luck! :)
